Homebuilder and general contractor Joseph (Joe) Stoddard founded Mountain Consulting Group (MCG) in 1995 to response to the need for strategic planning, lean operations, and the smart application of technology among new homebuilders and remodelers. Today MCG's clients include top-200 builders, management consultancies, and technology providers developing products for the building industry. MCG has been instrumental in the development of various focused technology, training, and evaluation tools for the industry, including the BuildScore™ balanced scorecard system for production homebuilders, “Deliver Exactly What You Sold”- a comprehensive quality assurance protocol, and most recently the Certified Residential Construction Manager (CRCM) training curriculum for field supervisory and production support staff at builders of all sizes. The CRCM program is the first nationally available training program designed to quickly address the knowledge gap of residential production and production staff. This allows even less experienced teams to function effectively and deliver top-quality homes on-time and on-budget.

Since 2004, Mr. Stoddard has been affiliated with SMA Consulting as a content developer and SMA Certified Systems Implementer. Based in Orlando FL and Anderson, SC, SMA (www.smaconsulting.net) promotes a best-practices platform spanning all functional areas of the homebuilding business. SMA offers ongoing training and coaching programs for builders and remodelers in all markets and all product ranges. SMA client companies routinely perform in the top 5% of homebuilders nationally in overall construction quality, customer satisfaction, on-time completion, and profitability.

As a thought leader, Joe is widely published in industry publications and is 20-yr. contributing editor and columnist for Hanley-Wood, LLC, the publisher of Builder, the Journal of Light Construction, and Remodeling magazines.
